Q.What browsers does Your Timesheets support?
Currently this site only supports Internet Explorer and FireFox. In the future we will be investigating other browsers like Opera.
Q.The configure page asked me details, are these recorded? No. This site does not store any data that is entered on it.
Q.The "Date of the first timesheet" on the configure page only let me select a Monday. Can I change this? The current version of Your Timesheets only supports Monday->Sunday timesheets. This is something that the development team will be looking at in the future.
Q.The configure page asked for "Level 1 Organisation Name" and "Level 2 Organisation Name". What are these? These are simply text field that are added to the top of the timesheet to identify your work area. This might be "Accounts Section" or "Information Technology". If you do not require these fields then leave them blank and the timesheet will ignore them.
Q.What is FLEX time?In some organisations employees automatically accumulate time that is worked over and above their required hours. They can then use this accumulated time as leave. This is called flexible hours (or FLEX for short). In some organisations this is referred to as Bank time because it is said to be "banked".
Q.What is TOIL?TOIL is "Time off in lieu". In some organisations employees can work approved extra time. They can then use this extra time at a later date as leave. This is called TOIL. TOIL is different from FLEX, because FLEX is automatically gained while TOIL is a manual process.
Q.What is Overtime?Overtime is extra hours that are worked by an employee that they are paid for. This is different from TOIL and flex because these accumulate as leave not pay.
Q.The configure page asked for 6 types of leave. Do I have to fill them all in?No, only enter the required names of the leave types you have. If you only enter 3 then your timesheet will only have those 3.
Q.I am a developer and the timesheet I have downloaded doesn't suit all my needs. Can I change it?Yes, absolutely. If you have the ability to program javascript and dhtml and you want to change the way the timesheet works then do so. If you add anything that you think it good then contact us and tell us about it.
Q.I am not a developer and I have downloaded doesn't suit all my needs. Can I get help?Yes, absolutely. If you would like changes made to the base template that is used to download a timesheet to better suit your needs then this can be done. We could even set-up a template just for your organisation. Please contact us and tell us what you require. In most cases we will probably asked for a small donation to be made to support the work.
Q.These timesheets don't communicate with our HR system or support workflow why would I use it?YourTimesheets is a simple single file web application. This website was set up as a proof of concept to see how file saving technology available in TiddlyWiki could be used to support simple off-line web-based application development. This system was never intended as a replacement to any commercial timesheeting application. That said we are always looking for further expansion and one of the next areas of investigation for us is going to be the sharing of Yourtimesheet data via AJAX.
Q.I have downloaded a timesheet but it will not let me save it. What could be the problem? If you are using Windows XP SP2 then you may need to "UnBlock" the file that you have downloaded and saved from this site. Windows XP SP2 can tell when a html file has been downloaded from a website and marks it as un-safe. To unblock it you need to:
If you are using Internet Explorer and you are receiving the activex notice dialog you must select "Yes" or the file will not save.
It seems that firefox suffers from neither of these problems
Q.I want to shower you with praise/abuse how do I do it?Please use our contact us page to see how to get in contact.
